How
can I improve my credit score?
Ensure that you always make all of your payments on time. Setting up Direct Debits can
reduce the chances of missing a payment when you are on holiday or because of an error. If
you are forced to miss a payment, make sure to pay the following month. If you are
eligible to vote, make sure to be registered on the Electoral Roll at your current address
with your local council and when you move address register as soon as possible with your
new local council. If your credit history is very poor, or you have a very short credit
history, there are still ways to improve your credit rating over time. Consider opening
new accounts responsibly and paying them off on time as this will show lenders you are
capable of managing credit. Keep your levels of credit and spending under control as
having high levels of debt may negatively affect your credit rating, as you have a greater
chance of missing payments.
